Where to Start

We recommend starting by getting a licensed Structural Engineer or Architect for the design/engineering portion of this project. This recommendation is

made because it is a structural project and your to be selected contractor most likely does not know structural engineering. In older homes, the original

posts, post footings, structural connection brackets, and related reinforcing bars may be out of date for current practices. A licensed Structural Engineer

or Architect will evaluate, perform engineering calculations and prepare construction drawings to ensure your project lasts for years without problems.
