Reinforcing Bars at the base of Post Footing, (foundation).

While the contractor had planned on using 18" square x 18" deep post footings without reinforcing bars, the Structural Engineer that we employed specified

24" square x 24" deep post footings with reinforcing bars. The little concrete blocks, (called "chairs"), that are below the reinforcing bars, keep the

reinforcing bars at the correct level in the post footing. The following is a photograph of the reinforcing bars at the base of the typical post footing on this

project.
