Reasons for the Project - 2

There was severe cracking of the slab around the interior posts of the patio/deck.  This we found to be caused by the weight of the deck above on the

interior patio/deck posts and when the foundations were dug, we discovered that only 12" square x 12" deep post footings were used in the existing

house.  It lasted 37 years but was out of date with current construction/engineering standards.  Also only light gauge welded wire mesh was used to

reinforce the concrete slab.  The photograph below shows some of the slab cracking problems which are beyond a common "hair line" crack of the

concrete slab.
